I also received a set of Dome Base Plates today from David "Steele" Smith, which included this gorgeous Blue Anodized Diet Dome Base Plate.

The bidding was fierce and it was down to the wire, but I scored this baby on eBay for a whopping... five dollars.  :o)

All I need is more R2 tchotchkes, but I just thought this one was cool. (Aren't they all?)

I have my Yoda 4 Day Adult pass from the con, but this one is way 'mo better, methinks. ;o)

Motivation...

After R2LA... I'm totally motivated to finally finish this build! (Can't you tell? I mean two posts in one day? C'mon!) Guess I just needed to recharge the ol' batt'ries!

Been working on the Skins lately... they still need a bit of re-work, then it's off to gluing and finally on to fitting!

Once I figured out how this Escher-esque puzzle went together, It's finally taking shape!

I'm pretty happy with they way they're turning out, but I still have a bit to do:

Many of the panels need to be re-formed to the body diameter of 18.174", as most of them are now bent out of shape.  Oh, what I'd give for a decent Roll Press right about now. :o)

Also, I'm using a COM-8 A Frame with the full size Rear Door Assembly (ANH style). I still need to cut the Rear Skins to fit... Time to bust out that new Dremel!

Recently my little R2 unit made the trek to the South-land and had his debut at the 9th Annual gathering of R2 Builders.

Had a lot of fun, met a lot of long-time club members and had a great time! Nice to finally put some faces to some names!
